Differentiated Learning

Across the curriculum there are groups of pupils for whom the mainstream provision may be insufficient.

Across the curriculum there are those whose ability places them outside the normal range for that group. This may be both at the top and the bottom of a mixed ability geography group or it may be within a top-set maths group which contains the highest fliers. It may be on the sports field or in the arenas of drama and music.

In addition to the mainstream curriculum these groups are supported by the Learning Support Department, the Department for EAL and the Gifted and Talented Programme.

Within the classroom, provision for these groups is often the same as for the main group but in some cases it may differ. Academic schemes of work should make reference to these groups and wherever possible give guidelines for the extra or different work provided or expected.
